Random Thoughts: Reasons Why Sara Bareilles and Adam Levine Should Totally Get Together

Sara Bareilles and Adam Levine? I ship it.

P.S. Adam's currently engaged married to Behati Prinsloo, so this post is obviously not intended to be serious. Maybe in an alternate universe, Adam and Sara could be together. :P

1. They are close friends.

Sara met Adam when she was in college at UCLA, and the two have been in touch ever since then. They tweet each other, help each other, joke around together... and are just great friends!

2. They both started their musical careers around the same time.

Sara knew Adam back in the day when his band was called Kara's Flowers instead of Maroon 5. They even competed against each other in the annual student concert UCLA Spring Sing in 2000. (Sara beat them.)

3. They've toured together... multiple times!

Top 10: Sara Bareilles Songs

Here is a list of what I think are the ten best songs by Sara Bareilles!

10. "City" - Little Voice

A sad song about feeling lost, unwanted, and alone. Even more of a tearjerker when you can actually relate to it.

9. "Love Song" - Little Voice

This is the song that rocketed Sara into fame. What I enjoy the most about this song is the ironic story behind the lyrics: Sara's record label was pressuring her to make hit "radio-friendly" love songs, but rejected most of her submissions. Out of frustration, Sara came up with this song that cleverly showed her label that she can totally make a hit song about anything - including not wanting to write a love song!

8. "Gonna Get Over You" - Kaleidoscope Heart

This song is probably the catchiest out of all of Sara's songs. It makes me want to dance whenever I'm feeling down. Plus, the music video for this song is hilarious!

Song of The Week: "End of The World"

Song of The Week: "End of The World" by Ingrid Michaelson

Live version (even better!):

Another song from Ingrid Michaelson, this one comes from her previous album Human Again. The first time I listened to it, I nearly bawled. It might have been because of the musical key that the song is in, or the impactful lyrics, or Ingrid's delicate voice (or all three!). But there is no doubt that this song is filled with emotion.
The only problem I have with this song is that, on the album version, the autotune/mixing makes Ingrid sound like a young teenager as she's singing the chorus; there's little to no depth/subtlety in her voice (if that makes sense... I'm not sure how to describe it). Which is why think her live version is a million times better.
Fun fact: Ingrid was inspired to write this song after watching a zombie movie. :)

Happy Birthday Kelly Clarkson!

Yesterday (April 24) was Kelly Clarkson's birthday! She's turning 32 years old! (It doesn't look like it, right?) ;) That also means it's been 12 years since she won the first season of American Idol and began her career in music. (Wow, that makes me feel old!)

Check out Kelly's first American Idol audition:
To this day, she still has her amazing pipes and her cute, spontaneous, dorky personality. I hope she continues to make music and inspire the world, and I wish her the best for the future!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY CLARKSON!!!

Song of The Week: "Time Machine"

Song of The Week: "Time Machine" by Ingrid Michaelson

"Time Machine" is a super catchy song from Ingrid Michaelson's newest album Lights Out. I came across this song on Spotify one day and its opening piano beat instantly caught my attention. Although I haven't listened to many of Ingrid's older songs, I can tell that she's taking on a different style (compare this to "Be OK" and "The Way I Am"). I like this sassy, rocker side of her; this song is definitely going on replay for a while. :)

New Kelly Clarkson Song! (It's a duet!)

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while... I was traveling and got sick and was busy with work and other stuff. But everything's back to normal now!

Now for some great news! Kelly Clarkson just came out with a new song called "In The Basement"! Well, it's actually a duet with country singer Martina McBride and is a part of Martina’s independently released Everlasting LP. Also, the song is originally by Etta James, an American Blues artist. Listen to the duet below!

It seems like Kelly is trying out a different sound. I really like the raspy and breathy quality of her voice in this song. Here's a test for all the fans out there: can you tell the difference between Kelly's singing and Martina's singing? :)
