Song of The Week: "Manhattan"

Song of The Week: "Manhattan" by Sara Bareilles

Sara Bareilles is a master when it comes to sad songs. This beautiful piano-based ballad, from her newest album The Blessed Unrest, is about leaving a loved one behind in order to move on. The song is simple, but don't underestimate its power to convey emotion; it's a perfect example of the saying "less is more."

Random Thoughts: Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Lawrence are Twinsies

Jennifer Lawrence is the "Kelly Clarkson" of the acting world. (Or, if you prefer, Kelly Clarkson is the "Jennifer Lawrence" of the music world.) Here's why:

1.) Both are extremely talented at what they do.

Kelly Clarkson is an amazing singer who won the first season of American Idol, sold over 20 million albums worldwide, and received numerous awards for her music, including 3 Grammys. Jennifer Lawrence is a fantastic actress famous for her roles in The Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle, and she's won many awards as well, including 2 Golden Globes and an Oscar.

2.) They both started pursuing their future at a young age.

Clarkson singing in her high school talent show
Lawrence acting in The Bill Engvall Show in 2007
Kelly began singing in seventh grade by joining the school choir. Jennifer acted in a local theater and decided to pursue an acting career by the age of 14.

3.) They have a similar sense of humor.

This is best explained through a series of GIFs:
Food Lovers

Master Photobombers

 Professional Funny-face Makers

Spontaneous Dancers

4.) Both have had embarrassing mishaps at awards shows.

Kelly got stuck to Miranda Lambert at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Jennifer Lawrence tripped during the 2013 Oscars.

5.) Both of them are happy with who they are.

Neither of them are bothered by petty critics. YOU GO GIRLS!

As you can see, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Lawrence are basically the same. :D

Song of The Week: "Say Something"

Song of The Week: "Say Something" (A Great Big World cover) by Grey

The female singer in this cover is Grey, who competed in Season 5 of the U.S. singing competition show The Voice. She was eliminated from the show after her live performance of Paramore's "Still Into You", which was unfortunate because her previous performances were so good! (I blame the bad song choice; Grey's voice isn't the type for a rock song.) Anyways, the video above is Grey's cover of "Say Something" by A Great Big World. I'm sure if she sang this on The Voice, she could've stayed in the competition - and maybe even could've won. (In my opinion, she's like Cassadee Pope - winner of season 3 - with a more mature voice.) She just has a soft, unique tone in her voice that is able to bring people to tears with the right song. I hope she continues to make music, because I'm waiting to hear more from her!
