Maroon 5's New Album: V

One of my favorite bands, Maroon 5, released a new album yesterday! It is their fifth album, and is appropriately titled "V" (as in the Roman numeral for "five"). If you don't feel like heading to the store to buy the CD, you can listen to the album on Spotify: Maroon 5 – V – Spotify or purchase it on iTunes: Maroon 5 – V – iTunes.

The first two singles are also on Youtube:

Review:
This is the most "pop" sounding album that Maroon 5 has made so far. As a result, many of the songs have the same sound as all the other songs on Top 40 radio: extremely catchy, yet very formulaic. Adam Levine's vocal range also has no limit in this album (just listen to "Feelings")... up to you to decide whether that's a good thing. ;) However, there are still some hidden gems in the album; for example, "It Was Always You" brings back an 80's vibe and shows off Adam's range without too much of his "oohs" and "ahhs".
All in all, this album is not Maroon 5's best. The songs are catchy, but have no real sustenance, and the spotlight seems too focused on Adam Levine rather than the entire band. Rating: 3 stars out of 5.
